The Senior Product Manager, PPG Planning is responsible for the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery of New York Life's next generation financial planning tool and experience, built to bring the Company's Protection Powered Growth (PPG) strategy to life for agents, advisors, and clients.

Reporting to the Head of Field Experience Delivery, this role owns the end-to-end transformation of the Planning capability, set the vision including the future state and the changes required across process, people/workforce, technology, data and AI—not just the product roadmap and development lifecycle.

Success in this role requires a product leader with financial engineering domain experience who can translate complex planning, modeling, and actuarial concepts into a scalable, AI-enabled product. It requires a leader who can shape the investment case, articulate the value at stake, establish measurable business outcomes, and remain accountable for value realization. And it requires a leader who can partner effectively with Technology, Data, AI, Experience and Design, Actuarial, Agency (Distribution), Legal, and Compliance to deliver it.

What You'll Do:

Transformation / Product Leadership and Vision

• Translate the Protection Powered Growth (PPG) strategy into a prioritized set of product capabilities and features that make agents and advisors effective throughout the Planning process.

• Continuously evaluate market trends, competitor planning tools, and emerging AI capabilities to inform the product roadmap. Challenge the market, challenge the organization.

• Own the path from implementation through readiness, adoption, behavior change and sustained value realization.

Financial Engineering & Product Design

• Apply financial engineering domain expertise to define planning calculations, modeling logic, and assumptions underlying the tool.

• Partner with Actuarial and quantitative teams to validate the accuracy, soundness, and defensibility of planning models embedded in the product.

• Translate complex financial planning and insurance concepts into intuitive, well-designed product experiences for planners and clients.

AI & Data-Driven Innovation

• Identify and prioritize opportunities to apply AI and advanced analytics to improve planning accuracy, personalization, and efficiency. More than that, reimagine the end-to-end capability in both the platform and the way in which we get the work done through the evolving possibilities of AI.

• Partner with Technology, Data, and AI teams to design, test, and deploy AI-enabled features responsibly and in compliance with Company standards.

• Define success metrics for AI-enabled features and iterate based on performance and user feedback.

Stakeholder Partnership

• Partner with Nautilus, the Advanced Planning Group (APG), and Financial Planning support teams to gather feedback, define requirements, test features, and ensure the planning capabilities enable business workflows.

• Partner with Field Learning and Development to design, build and enable industry-leading education and learning delivery and engagement to serve our newest to most experienced agents and advisors.

• Partner with adjacent value-streams (Service, Purchase, Client Growth and Retention), our Chief Transformation Office, and our Experience and Digital Marketing teams to deliver seamless UX for agents/advisors and their clients together along the PPG experience.

• Serve as the primary product point of contact for Distribution, Technology, Actuarial, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders on planning-tool initiatives.

• Represent and focus the voice of the agent/advisor and the client in product decisions.

Agile Delivery & Execution

• Own the product backlog, write clear requirements and user stories, and prioritize the roadmap in partnership with Engineering.

• Lead the product through the full development lifecycle, from discovery and design through launch and post-launch iteration.

Compliance & Risk

• Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to ensure the planning tool's outputs, disclosures, and recommendations meet regulatory and suitability requirements.

• Ensure financial engineering assumptions and calculation logic are well-documented and auditable.

• Manage strategic partnership with third party FinTech companies to inform and expand Planning capabilities to maintain market leadership.

Talent & Team Leadership

• Build and lead a high-performing product team, including product managers and/or product owners, as the platform scales.

• Foster a collaborative, data-driven product culture in partnership with all departments and partners.

• Create clarity, accountability, and momentum across organizational boundaries for leadership and the cross-functional team

Define Capability Success

• Manage the performance of the overall capability against business, operational, financial and adoption outcomes, using those insights to determine where we refine, scale, accelerate or change direction.

• Partner with Experience Research and Advanced Planning teams to consistently benchmark the capability.

• Define and track key product metrics, including adoption, usage, and planning outcomes.

What You'll Bring:

• 8+ years of product management experience, including experience building or managing complex, calculation-intensive, or highly regulated products.

• 5+ years of financial engineering domain experience — quantitative finance, financial planning methodology, actuarial science, or similar — strongly required.

• Experience building or managing AI-enabled or data-intensive product features.

• Experience partnering with distribution, sales, or field-facing organizations to gather requirements and drive adoption preferred.

• Experience within financial services, insurance, wealth management, or fintech preferred.

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, CFP®, or related quantitative/actuarial credential a plus.

• Working knowledge of Agile and Decision product delivery methodologies.
